Our experts take it upon themselves to help investors ensure their shares are transferred into their demat account with certainty. As a part of the share recovery process, we provide assistance to share claimants in collecting the correct documents, submitting them at the right place and monitoring the status of the claimant’s application.
Recovery Procedure from IEPF
Investor Education and Protection Fund is a fund established to secure investor’s shares from being misused or lost. This is a statutory body formed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and established under the Companies Act, 2013. They claim the shares that are unclaimed for 7 consecutive years.
The reason for shares remaining unclaimed may vary. Some employees do not claim dividends from their companies, or some investors lose physical certificates and form a Demat account. In other cases, they may forget to update their bank details. So, to protect the shares from being misappropriated, IEPF instructs the listed and unlisted companies to make them aware of unclaimed dividends and then keep hold of shares once they cross the limit of 7 years.
However, IEPF has laid out guidelines, following which the investors can claim their shares back into their demat account. Here are the steps involved in the recovery of shares from IEPF:
- Go to the IEPF website and check if you have any of your shares in their fund. You can check by showing proof of ownership.
- Download the IEPF-5 form from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website.
- Fill out the form and attach all necessary documents
- Submit it to the Nodal Officer of the respective company.
- If the company verifies, it reports to the IEPF authority.
- The IEPF authority reviews the report and decides whether to transfer or reject the application.
Our team of experts provide assistance in gathering the documents. In case of doubt regarding the documents, like transfer to legal heir, succession certificate, lost document, or any other issue, we provide legal assistance, suggesting right steps so that the application is filled in the appropriate way, increasing the chances of successful recovery.
